We have positions stationed in Calgary and Edmonton. The Calgary based position will cover the entire Southern region of Alberta from Red Deer South and the Edmonton position covers Red Deer North.
SALARY for this position is 82000 to 97000 per year
The Transmission Lineman would be located with the various Transmission Crews in Alberta. Under the supervision of the Transmission Crew Supervisor and direction of the Foreman, the Transmission Lineman is required to function as a Journeyman in the building, modifying or maintaining of the Transmission system. This position requires execessive travel - 1 to 3 nights per week. On occasion longer durations away from home headquarters may be required.
Perform line maintenance in a safe efficient manner utilizing de-energized, live line hot stick or live line barehand techniques on voltages up to and including 500KV.
Capable of stringing, sagging, tie in, dead-end and splicing of conductors tension or un-tension for all conductors including self dampening (SD).
Physically capable of performing work from man-baskets, buckets, helicopters, poles and towers.
Physically capable of working in adverse/inclement weather conditions.
Safe operation of heavy and tracked equipment including Radial Arm Diggers, Line Trucks, Cranes, and all terrain equipment (Foremost) as required.
Operate and maintain such hand tools as may be required for the job including blocks, grips, jacks, hot line tools and cover up, etc.
Organize the portion of the assigned job.
Maintain a positive work environment through open communications, respect for co-workers, and willingness to contribute to the growth and well being of all crew members.
Maintain good public relations with persons inside and outside the company.
Instruct, mentor, and train junior personal in duties, safe work practices, care and use of tools and equipment.
Maintain personal and group safety at all times and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or close to energized equipment.
Willing to work away from home for short to extended periods of time (work week consists of 4, 10-hour days, and crew is away for 60-100 nights per year).
Power Lineman Certificate or equivalent.
Interprovincial Red Seal required.
Experience in transmission field an asset.
Class 5 Drivers License.
Class 1 or Class 3 with air endorsement would be an asset.
Knowledge of Safety Practices, Procedures and Standards required in Line Construction.
Certified in TDG, WHMIS, and First Aid.
Candidate must be a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The candidate must be capable of working efficiently in both an independent or team environment.
Live Line Hot Stick / Barehand experience an asset.
Experience with working around helicopters an asset.
Will be required to provide a copy of your driver's abstract and participate in a medical.
