This term of this position is 16 months. The Co-op/Intern student will work with the Engineering Standards & Support group within the Strategic Asset Management department. This team is responsible for the following:

  • Long term strategies and philosophies related to asset management. · Engineering standards and specifications for the assets. · Compliance with all regulations and industry standards. · Selection, evaluation, and implementation of new technology. · Engineering support.

  • Responsibilities

    Under the guidance of technical staff:

  • Assist in the organization, generation and maintenance of AltaLink standards. Research into material specifications, current industry standards and utility practices will be required.
  • Assist in the review and approval of new and existing material for purchase.
  • Assist with data population and integrity checks for AltaLink’s assets. This individual may also have opportunities to work in other areas described in the Job Summary as well as participating in field visits to observe field operations, construction practices and maintenance procedures.

  • Qualifications

  • An Electrical Engineering student who is enrolled in a Co-op/Internship program at a recognized University.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written. An emphasis will be placed on technical writing ability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and develop strong internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Superior analytical, risk assessment and problem solving skills. Note: Please provide a list of recently completed University courses and grades/marks on your resume or cover letter.
