An opportunity exists for a Telecom System Tower Serviceman in the Transmission Field Operations team in the Calgary Foothills office. The successful candidate in this position will be expected to work as part of a two person team to inspect and maintain AltaLink communication towers within AltaLink’s service territory and reside in the vicinity of Calgary.
Inspect and Maintain Telecommunication towers and tower mounted equipment
associated with the AltaLink communication system.
Assist AltaLink telecommunication Technologists in trouble shooting radio
path and antenna issues.
Install antenna, wave guide, coax, ground kits, and lights as required
Inspect and accept project installations done for AltaLink by third party
Supervise, inspect, and accept collocate intallations or changes to
Provide Maintenance Planning, and AltaLink Control Center staff with
information regarding equipment status and recommend improvements or
Trouble response for communication tower facilities.
To maintain tools and safety equipment in fully serviceable manner.
Minimum High School Diploma required.
Communication Technician or Journeyman Communication Electrician Certificate would be an asset.
Be competent and comfortable climbing and working at heights up to 180 metres.
Minimum of 3 years experience in the Telecom Tower Service industry.
Proven ability / experience in the above noted responsibilities.
Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace.
Must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
Basic computer skills.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Willing to continue to develop skills and a career as a Tower Serviceman.
Willing to accept out of town working conditions.
Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Proven track record of good attendance and performance.
