We are looking for a talented Digital Communications Advisor who will develop and implement communication strategies for internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Digital Communications Advisor will be part of a team dedicated to high quality and innovative communications practices. We’re looking for a strategic thinker, a great writer, and a tech-savvy communicator to join our team and promote AltaLink’s reputation with all of its stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage AltaLink’s external and internal websites including ongoing enhancement of both sites, regular maintenance and updating, improving content and functionality, regularly pulling and monitoring website analytics and ensuring the overall quality of both sites
  • Provide strategic advice on web-related solutions that help promote a positive experience for the public and AltaLink employees with both sites
  • Manage AltaLink’s social media presence, including creating the strategy, developing the editorial content, managing regular postings and monitoring and measuring results on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
  • Regularly produce corporate videos including developing concepts/storyboards, shooting footage, editing and creating professional and engaging videos for internal and external audiences
  • Work with AltaLink’s IT department to create and execute communications tactics such as virtual town halls and webinars
  • Produce podcasts for executives and other leaders within the organization
  • Provide technical support for internal and external events
  • Partner with communications advisors and graphic designers to produce presentations that include digital media
  • Manage AltaLink’s digital signage across all offices in its service territory, including developing digital signage strategy, managing the software and posting content daily
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest in social media, digital communications and technology trends and provide ongoing recommendations for technology-based solutions for AltaLink’s business
  • Work with project teams including project managers, engineers and planners to create communications plans for new transmission projects
  • Develop project newsletters to inform and engage landowners in AltaLink’s plans to build new transmission projects
  • Ensure AltaLink’s transmission projects are communicated through all appropriate channels
  • Provide other support as required to the manager, corporate communications and VP, communications

  • Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, digital media or broadcasting required
  • Three to five years of experience in a communications role, focusing on digital media
  • Highly technical skillset; proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), including solid creative writing and editing skills when dealing with sometimes highly technical topics
  • Strong knowledge of communication processes
  • Demonstrated ability in project management of communications initiatives, including specific experience in web-based communications and measurement
  • Ability to work effectively in team setting – values the ideas of others
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and carry projects through to completion within a changing environment, both independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated experience working with content management systems, social media analytics tools, SharePoint, video production and other technologies as noted above
  • Sound judgment in dealing with sensitive, and/or highly confidential information
