AltaLink is in the need of a Director of Commercial Development to oversee the development and implementation of a number of new customer solution offerings and negotiate third party service agreements. The Director of Commercial Development will also be accountable for the business operations of two new Limited Partnerships with First Nations.
This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Customer and Stakeholder Engagement, and will appeal to individuals who show initiative and the ability to independently work with customers and partners and navigate through complex commercial discussions and negotiations.
Lead a team of 4 – 5 employees that are dedicated to:
developing, securing regulatory approval, and executing a number new customer solutions offerings;
pursuing acquisitions of high voltage assets and/or companies;
executing AltaLink’s strategy for battery storage and other non-wire solutions;
negotiate third party commercial agreements;
accountable for pursuing government grants for the demonstration of new technologies;
business operations of AltaLink’s Limited Partnerships with First Nations; and
identifying and developing other new business opportunities.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.
Minimum 15 years’ experience in the pipeline, midstream, petrochemicals, petroleum refining industries, and/or electricity industry.
Experience negotiating contractual terms and conditions within a long term supply agreement and adequately managing risks and liabilities.
Minimum fifteen years’ experience leading business development activities.
Minimum fifteen years leading the negotiations of long term supply contracts requiring large capital investments (> $100M).
Minimum five years’ business experience with profit and loss accountability.
Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
Strong presentation and written communication skills.
Experience with indigenous relations.
Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
Team player with the ability to work within and lead multi discipline teams including Finance, Legal, Operations, and Engineering.
Proven track record of exceptional performance.
Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity.
Experience in a regulated business is a plus.
