The Project Delivery Engineer will report to the Manager, Project Governance. The Project Delivery Engineer will manage and administer AltaLink’s Stage Gate and Project Delivery Model processes as well as lead other continuous process improvement initiatives that integrate with Stage Gates and Project Delivery.


  • Manage the AltaLink project governance stage gate framework ensuring that all projects comply with the stage gate requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the scheduling of project stage gates for the appropriate review panel.
  • Arrange meetings with project managers and oversee the development and preparation of the stage gate materials.
  • Facilitate stage gate review meetings and prepare meeting records.
  • Follow the stage gate document management process and ensure that the correct documents are captured in the system of record.
  • Ensure all conditions and/or action items arising from the project stage gate approval are completed by the project team.
  • Maintain the stage gate lessons learned log.
  • Brief senior executives on the status of stage gates on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the continued development of the project delivery model framework ensuring all projects comply with the requirements including risk management standards, processes, systems, templates and procedures.
  • Provide assistance with the preparation of executive reports.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and lead the development, execution and implementation of initiatives related to processes that support stage gates and project delivery.
  • Act as liaison between project groups and other departments.

  • Qualifications

  • University Bachelor Degree(s) in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or qualifies for registration with APEGA.
  • PMP or MBA designation are an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management or project control functions for projects ranging from $10 million to $500 million.
  • Experience in a regulated utility environment would be an asset.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong facilitator and problem solver with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and work within tight timelines.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic changing environment.
